Cargo cult

Okomentovani komentare Petra Koubskeho jsem odolat nemohl. V oblasti racionality a souvisejicich pojmu je to pomerne frekventovany pojem. Doporucuji se o nem lehce poucit.

Uz to takhle proste neslo... / I couldn't stand it anymore

...a tak jsem si zridil ucet na Delicious. Proste: skoro kazdej den jsem si ukladal odkaz na nejakou stranku, kterou by stalo za to okomentovat, napsat k ni prispevek sem, zkratka nejak ji zhmotnit ve vlastni reflexi. Lec - nekdy prvotni impuls vymizi, zjisti se, ze ta reflexe neni tak silna a tak. Ale preci - nejaka zajimavost v tom je, aspon par sluvek by si to zaslouzilo (a taky je treba nejak nalozit s tou desive narustajici slozkou). A tak tedy je zde: dalsi medium pro sdileni (a sebeodhalovani, ajta). Takze se odtedka muzete mrknout ve zkratce na to, co me zaujalo. Jinak je mezi odkazy vpravo. A co vase ucty?
...so I have created an account on Delicious. The reason is pretty simple: more or less every day I saved one or two interesting pages to my Favourites with the intention to write a related article on the blog later. Yet - the original intention diminished, I didnt find the website so interesting anymore or something like that. But the will to comment somehow or to keep the quick reflection remained (and it become quite obvious that I should somehow get rid off the growing and growing directory). And so I have created the Delicious account. Another channel for sharing. What is your account?

Politicians and terrorists

I read Erik Best's Final Word every day yet it doesn't happen that often that it would ignite a need for comment. But this time the "ignition" was pretty quick. Read his text first.

Michal Horáček, a hard-working Czech entrepreneur and lyricist, told MFD that any progressive tax is a terrorist act. He wasn't entirely serious, of course, but he was onto something. Governments have so overused the threat of "terrorism" to deprive us of liberties and waste our money that it's time to fight back. If terrorists are those intent on destroying our way of life, today's politicians and other public officials qualify in many cases just as much as the inmates at Guantánamo. Instead of resolving the world's problems, public officials are amplifying them by making decisions that miss the mark or that benefit a chosen few. Budget-skimming has become the biggest growth industry. Just read the newspapers: Czech ministers, lawmakers,judges and mayors are making decisions on a daily basis that resound like small weapons of mass destruction. Time to add them all to the terrorist watch list.

I would not agree with Horáček about his parallel between increasing taxes and terrost acts (even though it is something worth deeper thinking) but what Best says is right. I highlighted the sentences I found most striking.

What you may find a little bit abstract can be pretty clear when presented in real-life examples: money lost in unclear (due to corruption) public tenders or non-sense measures (due to ideology and party's politics) could be spent on the most expensive and sophisticated treatment of some of the most difficult to fight diseases such as cancer. Then you could quickly count the number of deaths.This kind of calculations can easily be suspected as being tabloid like but the point is there: on hand hand we are spending lots of money on fighting people who fight our way of life, on the other hand we elect people who do their best (sometimes intentionally sometimes unintentionally) to corrupt the way we are supposed to live (from inside).

The obvious question is: what could be our Special Forces to fight this? To be honest - I am not sure. There is probably no Special Force out there but only our voice and activity. Let's look for the contact information of candidates to the Parliament. And ask questions from whaveter field to find out whether these people are those who are supposed to represent your thoughts, wishes, and believes or - weapons of more or less mass destructions.

I will do that.

Papezovy prezervativy

Nebyt Petra Koubskeho, nemel bych co komentovat ;-). Tentokrate jsme se ponekud neshodli. Psal o papezovych vyrocich stran pouzivani prezervativu.

Jen jestli jste zde, Petre, nespadl do pasti chozeni proti proudu pro samo chozeni ;-). V leccems mate pravdu, ale... Prezervativy se Africanum daji rozdavat (tusim, ze se tak deje). Pokud je to pro Africany komicke ci zahanbujici, je na case snazit se jim vysvetlit, ze jim jde o krk (kolik z nich si to vezme k srdci, je vec druha - ale i kdyby jen par!). Totez plati, pokud jde o neviru ve spojitost mezi pohlavnim stykem a AIDS. Pokud si to Mbeki a jini mysli, je treba jim rici, ze tomu tak neni a ze jsou nebezbecni blazni. Ano, vzdelani a ekonomika jsou pro Afriku asi dulezitejsi, ale nemusime hned mluvit o zachrane sveta, kdyz prozatim muzeme zachranit aspon par lidi.
Zkratka a dobre, tezko od papeze (a spravne rikate, ze zrovna tohoto) cekat neco jineho. Ale nelze byt v klidu a nepohorsovat se v momente, kdy clovek, jehoz slovo je z tech, ktera maji na teto planete rozhodne vetsi vliv, rika veci, ktere potencialne vedou k smrti lidi. Zvlaste kdyby jich mohl svymy slovy tolik zachranit. Chapu, ze tezko ted muze obratit a doporucovat vsem prezervativy. Ale pokud hlasa neco, co je dosti zrejme v rozporu s realitou a vede ke smrti lidi, tak je to odpudive. A vzlaste tehdy, jsou-li cleny rimskokatolicke cirkve lide, kteri smysleji rozumneji a to i tehdy, kdyz nejde o zivot (osobni zkusenost).
Kdyz se v souvislosti s AIDS v Africe o necem zamyslet, spise bych se zeptal nejakych ekologu (tj. vedcu zabyvajicich se dynamikou populaci apod., ne ochranaru prirody), jestli epidemie AIDS v Africe neni vlastne prirozenym stavem - priroda se proste reguluje...

Entropie, svedomi a jak zijem

Petr Koubsky napsal o nastupu pani Polednove do vezeni. Po svem. Ja po svem reaguji.

Deda mi obcas posila chytre citaty... Nejsem na to dost vnimavy vnuk, abych si je pamatoval a zapracovaval do pameti. Ale jeden preci: "Pocatkum celiti hled, pozde jest po leku se shanet, kdyz zlu byl ponechan odklad a cas."
Jenze - malokomu se chce skoncit na hranici, na Sibiri, spadnout ze schodu, prijit do reci. A nekomu se nechce jen neco delat. Taky s tim bojuju.
Muzeme se zlobit na pani Polednovou, ze byla mlada blba holka. Moji vnuci se na me budou zlobit, ze jsem delal konzultanta - muzu se hajit, ze jsem nepracoval v investicni bance. Nasledky jsou mozna jine, podstata asi stejna. Aspon, ze jsem par lidi uchranil pred okradenim cikanskymi kapsari. Snad mi to jednou pricte k dobru.
Entropie ma tendenci rust, ne? A kdo jsme, abychom to menili. I kdyz - clovek, to zni hrde.

Drazdany, Nagasaki, Hirosima

Pustil jsem se do komentovani nekterych ne uplne nejhezcich aspektu nasi historie. Inspiroval me, pokolikate jiz, Petr Koubsky.

Nejak me zaclo bavit komentovat clanky na ilistu. Tentokrate to odnesl jeden o ustnich zkouskach ve Finsku a jeden o studiu v zahranici (ponekud jsem si smlsnul na sefredaktorovi :-)).
