Somewhere in the darkness

I simply must publish this picture. Incredible. It is a picture of the Hartley 2 comet taken by the EPOXI mission. More here on the NASA pages.

A little bit scary, resembling creatures living in the deep oceans. Can you imagine being in a spaceship observing it from a short distance of tens or hundreds of kilometres? Kind of Star Trek.
